OUR PROJECTS

KRISPY KREME 2023

For the first time, Raising Hopes did a Krispy Kreme fundraiser to raise money to put towards compassion bags and selfcare baskets for ER patients who endure long wait times and healthcare workers, respectively.

CANDYGRAMS 2023

We hosted a Valentine's Day Candygram fundraiser where we offered personalized Candygrams which included a rose, chocolate or tea, a mini plushie, and a personalized note. All the money raised from this event will be put towards self-care baskets for our healthcare workers and support staff as well as patient-centered care packages.

SELF-CARE BAGS

Throughout the year, with the money raised from our fundraising events, Raising Hopes puts together self-care packages for nurses, support staff and administration including but not limited to chocolates and baked goods, coffee/ tea, and more! In the near future, we plan to extend this to patients who come to the ER on short notice with nothing on them as well.

APPRECIATION CARDS

Raising Hopes has set up boxes at recreational centres around the city inviting others to write words of appreciation to healthcare workers especially in light of the pandemic. These cards are included in our self-care bags as well!

CANDYGRAMS 2022

With plans needing to be changed for Valentine's day due to Covid-19, Raising Hopes created a fundraiser where people could send a little package to a loved one (or to themselves!) including a rose, some chocolate or tea and a little stuffed animal- completely contactless!

BOTTLE DRIVES

Throughout the year, Raising Hopes holds multiple bottle drives to raise money which we use to create our self-care bags. This is a great opportunity to get involvement from our volunteers and general members and appreciate their help!

INNOVATIONS IN HEALTHCARE SEMINAR 2022

Three speakers of different backgrounds in healthcare came to talk about their work including topics regarding clinical immunology and research, artificial intelligence (AI) and tissue bioengineering in orthopaedic surgery.

HEALTHCARE WEBINAR 2021

We invited four guests to speak on the effects they have dealt with on a day-to-day basis due to Covid-19. From left to right, Dr. Sneha Suresh (MD., FRCPC), Dr. Sherif Mahmoud (BSc. Pharm, MSc, PhD), Dr. Akshatha Raghuveer (MD), and lastly (not pictured here) Rose Storrier (RN).

SELF-CARE BASKETS NOVEMBER 2022

With the money fundraised through our events, we were able to put together 10 baskets worth approximately 100$ each which were given to Environmental Services, Housecleaning, Emergency, Psychiatry and Surgical Cleaning at the Misericordia Hospital.
