From hearing my mother’s and her colleagues stories of their time working tirelessly in the COVID-19 unit, I was just in awe of their perseverance. I want to do whatever I can to make these difficult circumstances a little easier for our health workers - this is what prompted me to start a new student-led initiative.

Having volunteered with the Misericordia Hospital for the past 6 years, I have had the privilege to collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care and hold empathetic conversations with patients going through difficult times. In light of the pandemic's impact on the healthcare system, I sensed the need to shed light on topics affecting the healthcare system on the UofA campus. Moreover, as a passionate advocate for social causes, I found Raising Hopes' mission to raise awareness about Canadian healthcare challenges deeply inspiring, and joining the team allowed me to actively work toward this goal.

My volunteering experience in health care settings has given me valuable insights into the challenges faced by both healthcare workers and patients. I share Raising Hopes commitment to increasing awareness about healthcare issues and making a positive impact in our community. I’m excited for another year with Raising Hopes and I believe that together, we can create a better healthcare experience for everyone.

I joined the Raising Hopes Student Initiative because of the unique and engaging work they do within our community. My position in the team allowed me to combine my love for creative arts and healthcare into projects that help the wellbeing of those in times of need. I'm looking forward to a fun, exciting filled year with everyone!

As one of the CO-VP Events, I hope to provide opportunities for general volunteers to get involved in our initiative. This year, we hope to deliver a variety of fundraisers, awareness, and social events!

The healthcare workers I have interacted with have all treated me with compassion, care, and kindness. I joined Raising Hopes because it gave me the opportunity to show my appreciation and give back to them for all the hard work they have put in, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I believe that ER patients should have a comfortable hospital experience and wanted to be part of an organization where I could provide them with the necessary resources.

I joined Raising Hopes to give back to our healthcare workers who worked tirelessly during the pandemic while risking their own wellbeing. This year, I am looking forward to helping further expand our initiatives to patient-centered projects. I am excited for another great year working with the rest of the team to spread awareness and show appreciation to our healthcare community!

I joined Raising Hopes because I want to give thanks to the healthcare providers that have dedicated their lives to helping people in times of need, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was drawn to how passionate and enthusiastic this team is, as well as the variety of exciting fundraisers and events they hold every year. I am grateful for the opportunity to be apart of this initiative, and I look forward to seeing what we accomplish this year!
